Rod

|
Rod is doing just great, over the last couple of days we have been trying to help him get over his fear of our vacuum cleaner and our basement. Other than that his house training is coming along pretty well, we get the occasional accident but we have those down to about 1 per day and we are starting to be able to read his body language better so if he has to go out he can tell, even if he isn't standing by the back door. He gets along great with my neighbors, they have 5 kids ages 5-13 and they adore him. He has taken a shining to both Kristy and I. He met my moms cats, he liked them, his tail was wagging and he was acting playful but the cats were not too happy to see him but I think he would have done fine with them if they weren't so cranky. Did you know he LOVES those dried pig ears you can get at the pet store. He chews and chews and chews and then buries it in the yard. He digs a deep hole with his front paws, drops the pig ear in, and fills the dirt back in with his snout, it is sooooo adorable. I can't get him in the pool. He will walk over, drink some water and almost get in the pool but gets a little tentative. We go to Maine for 2 weeks every summer and we stay on an island right of the coast and we swim all the time so I am hoping that he is a swimmer so he can swim with us up there. Just thought I would shoot you an e-mail to let you
know that Rod has REALLY become a part of our family. We just cant
get over how great he is. He is sweet and kind to everyone, except one
neighbor girl who he barks at a lot she has big poofy hair, he doesnt
seem to like people with hats or big hair, its kind of cute. Also, I
have a lifesize cut out of the Eagles Quarterback Donovan McNabb and
the first time Rod went into the room with the cut out in it he flipped
out at the cut out because he thought it was real. We took him to Maine,
a nine hour car ride and he slept the whole way, except when we stopped
so he could pee and walk around, after 8 hrs and 50 minutes he started
to get a little car sick and threw up all over my car seat like 5 minutes
form where we were going, it was ALMOST comical, and he felt better
right away. He went for a boat ride with us and seemed to really like
it, we have been taking him to a dog park where he frolics and jumps
around with a bunch of other dogs for an hour or two
he loves it,
but when we get home he is so tired he usually sleeps for the rest of
night. He still buries all of the Milkbones we give him, and after he
digs the hole and puts the bone in it he pushes the dirt back into the
hole with his snout and when he looks up he has a muddy dirty nose,
very cute. I may have told you some of this stuff already I just couldnt
remember what I mentioned. We love him so much and he has really attached
himself to us too. Thanks for raising such a great pup |
