MICROCHIPS ARE HERE!!!

Did you every wonder what would happen if your pet got lost? The Prince William County Animal Shelter will only hold a dog or cat with no tags or identification for five days. They will hold a pet up to 10 days if the animal has a collar. So there is good news and bad news. The bad news is that any animal found, captured or dropped off at the shelter with an injury is promptly euthanized. The good news is if they are micro-chipped, they have a much better chance of making it home!

Animal shelters, SPCA’s and some veterinarians and rescue groups (like SADSAC) have scanners which will give an ID number which we use to identify the owner and their emergency contacts. SADSAC is now able to microchip your pet for $30.00, or, if you have more than one pet, the cost is $25.00 each. The doctors at Independent Hill Veterinary Clinic are donating their time to do the chipping. Please call for an appointment or request a “chip” at your next visit. The microchip is administered with a needle in the scruff of your pet’s neck. No anesthesia is needed! It takes only a few seconds to protect your pet for a lifetime. Please have your emergency numbers ready and feel free to call Sherry at 703/791-2083 with any questions.

MANY THANKS

Thank you to all who inquired about Bob, our featured pet of the quarter. We are pleased to announce that Bob has a loving home with one other cat and two large dogs for him to pay with.

Thanks to the Palmer family who have helped us so much with so many kitties and a dog too? We couldn’t have gotten along without you.

Thanks to the Barker family for all the food and litter contributions. Your support is most welcome and purrfectly appreciated.

Thanks to one of our favorite food angels, Nancy Amdur, for your continued support.

Thanks to Ms. Sedgewick for rescuing Spot who went to a wonderful home.

Thanks to the Lee family for being willing to help us with a puppy that came to us with a vaccination reaction.

Thanks to the Wesling family for your special support of “Bruno.”

HELP WANTED

We are in desperate need of homes for a found colony of over 100 cats. We will begin trapping them and getting them neutered in the next few weeks. Please let us know if you or anyone you know can help.

TAX EXEMPT STATUS

We are now able to give receipts for tax deductions for monetary and other donations.

Currently we are in need of craft show items, but will need yard sale items in the spring.

We also hope to register with the CFC so you can designate SADSAC as your charity on your United Way contribution.

IN MEMORY OF

Our heartfelt thanks to Richard Torres, who gave a $100 donation in memory of his special friend “Jacques.” He still misses Jacques, but he now has two new puppies, “Quincy” and “Brutus” who he adopted from SADSAC. They are very lucky puppies.
