Feral Cat Update

Good news! We seem to have made a small dent in the adult cat population by spaying/neutering and placing over 35 cats.
Bad news! The kittens are now having kittens. We still have more adults left to do, and now have begun to trap the kittens. The latest kitten-bearing group is approximately six-seven months of age.
Worse news! It looks as though they are now not getting enough to eat. I am now feeding these kitties, too, since the last few batches have been very thin, unlike any of the others.
More good news! We bought two more cat traps ($130). We had to buy these traps because two of ours (one of which was on loan) were stolen.

Sometimes it seems as though I'm entering the desert with a watering can; but I refuse to give up on these poor little creatures. At least some of these younger cats are really trying to be friendly; therefore, a few may be adoptable. If only there were more space to keep them and more people to adopt them. We'll keep you posted, and if you can spare a bag of cat food, it won't go to waste.

CFC United Way

You asked for it and we finally got it--that's right! Our CFC United Way designation is 7768. We hope this will make it easier for you to donate, and we hope this will also increase our funding. For those of you who don't know what this is, you can designate SADSAC as your charity of choice when you give to the United Way. Many thanks to our Vice President, Sandy Parish, and our Secretary/Treasurer, Jackie Parish, for all their hard work. Those forms were amazing!

Upcoming Events/Fundraisers:

We're having a yard sale Saturday, Oct. 14th beginning at 8:00 AM at Bethel United Methodist Church, 13506 Minnieville Rd. in Woodbridge, VA (at the corner of Smoketown & Minnieville Rds.) to raise some greatly-needed funds. Please plan to attend!

We are still microchipping at Independent Hill Veterinary Clinic. Just call (703) 791-2083 to make an appointment.

Adoption Information

Due to increasing time constraints, our adoption days will be held twice a month, generally on the 2nd and 4th Saturday, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Independent Hill Veterinary Clinic, 13444 Dumfries Road (Woodbine Shopping Center on Route 234), Manassas, VA. For information, call (703) 221-0324 and ask for Sherry.

Featured Pet of the Month

Tigger is our featured pet of the month. He is a 2 1/2 year old very large, neutered male, orange tabby. He is very special--he came to us along with his sister, and he may be difficult to adopt due to the fact that he becomes extremely nervous at pet adoptions. His favorite thing is to help his foster Mom fold the laundry. Tigger is great company--he gets along with other cats, loves his sister, and just follows you around like a dog. He even gives kisses!! Please tell your friends about this special kitty, as he may not come to adoption days because he gets so upset.

Save Those Purina Labels!

Check your dog and cat food bags for weight circles from Purina Proplan and CNM Rx diets for donation to SADSAC. You can drop them off at the clinic any time. Just tell the receptionist to give them to Sherry. We thank you in advance.

In Loving Memory

Nancy Amdur gave us a donation in memory of her dear friend "Samie McKissick." She must have been one special doggie. We know her family misses her.

The Penmans, "Pookie" was quite the family treasure; she lived a very long life and was loved very much.
