Big Bart's Hopeful Heart Fund

Big Bart Because of a generous donation from Shannon Carson and Gary Terpening, Big Bart's Hopeful Heart Fund was created to set aside funds to help prepare pets for adoption. All dogs entering the shelter are vaccinated for deadly Distemper and Parvovirus and many are wormed. All Condo Cats are tested for FeLV and FIV, vaccinated, and spayed or neutered. Often animals enter the shelter in need of being "patched up" in some manner. We see cases such as collars growing into necks, old gun shot wounds, skin conditions, flea infestations, and diarrhea. Upper respiratory infections are commonplace among cats, requiring a round of antibiotics. There is always some sort of treatment required for every animal that enters the shelter. Big Bart says: "Have a heart; give to my special fund to help the animals find a new loving home."

The Emergency Fund

Darst

When animals like Clementine and Justin come to our shelter, they need immediate medical care. Amputations and other emergency care can be expensive, and although the vets kindly reduce fees for us, it's good to have money set aside. Having reserve funds for emergency care often means the difference between life or death for shelter animals. If you choose to make a donation to our emergency fund, you will be directly helping one of these emergency cases.

Darst, featured on the right, came to the shelter with gangrene. He needed his feet cleaned up and a toe removed. The Emergency Fund paid for his treatment.
