Trooper's Story
 My name is Trooper, I'm a 6 year old male Miniature Schnauzer. I am what you would call a "Noah's Bark Special". I was rescued in the 11th hour or should I say 12th hour. I was at a very high KILL shelter and my available date was 5/21/99 at 12:00 noon, my outdate (euthanize date) was 5/21/99 12:01... yeah that didn't exactly give me a lot of time to get adopted. I wasn't the best looking fella in the joint either, so my odds of anyone springing me were pretty low. I was the type of guy folks might feel sorry for but would keep on walking. I had been living on the street for sometime, my nose was scraped up, my ears were so infected they were actually closed up, my eyes also had minor infections. I was emaciated and had a ton of fleas and skin problems as a result... oh of course lets not forget those nasty worms. Well I got a bath, and got rid of my fleas and worms and am now in a loving foster home. My nose is already healed, I am receiving meds for my ears and eyes which should clear up nicely in a week. I am receiving nutriment and most of all tender loving care, something I haven't gotten in quite sometime. My foster folks say I'm the sweetest guy and just want some love (oh yes, I am a gentlemen in the house and am completely housebroken...). You're might be wondering if I'm a Miniature Schnauzer, where's my beard... well a fella tends to lose his fur when he's all stressed out and is full of fleas.... pretty soon my fur will grow all back and I'll get a decent haircut, then you'll see I'll be a handsome fellow once again!! I do need some recovery time to get back in shape so I won't be available for adoption for several weeks.... but I am hoping when I'm ready that someone has a heart big enough to give truly a "last chance dog" like me a permanent loving home.
