Gypsy's Story

Gypsy

Gypsy is a 3 year old female Flat Coated Retriever, possibly purebred we are not sure. Gypsy story is another sad one. Her owner came to our adoption center in mid January 2001, bringing Gypsy and her longtime a Golden Retriever. The Golden Retriever had an awful skin condition, most likely from neglect. Her owner was impatient to place both her dogs immediately as she was moving and alloted herself no time to find a home for her dogs. We asked her owner to work with us on placing the dogs by fostering them, she left though saying her brother would take both of the dogs.

Two days later a Noah's B'ark volunteer spotted both Gypsy and her golden buddy at a local kill shelter... their information cards said they were turned in as stray, coincidently only a 1/2 hour after the owner left our adoption center two days before. Some good hearted person took petty on the golden and put a hold on him to adopt him. However Gypsy did not show will at the shelter, she was over excited and barked at visitors, there was no doubt that she would have been put down so we stepped in and rescued her. Once Gypsy was out of her pen it was clear to see that she is a very loving dog... just was excited about being couped up. How sad that her owner took such little responsibility for her dogs... we don't even know Gypsy's real name, it is the one thing she could have taken with her.

Gypsy was adopted in March 2001 !!
