Abel and Baker

Two male kittens were rescued from a terrible situation by Melode. Trudy agreed to foster them and find homes. Since no one knew what they looked like, they were identified as "A" (white with black patches - 5 months) and "B" (white with gray patches - 3 months) when they arrived at vet. Trudy picked them up from Bay Animal Hospital after they received their medical care. "A" was changed to "Abel" and "B" was changed to "Baker". "Abel" was quite outgoing and was in quite good condition and was old enough to be neutered. We believe he had been someone's pet and had not been in the terrible situation for long. However, "Baker was not in good condition - he had suffered with a worm called cuterebra which had erupted through a hole in his neck (hole was healing) - he was skin and bones - someone had cut his whiskers or they had broken off due to poor nutrition and he was also very afraid of people. Trudy promised both kittens they would go to a good home.

Sue adopted "Abel" and he is very happy with Sue and her family.

After spending a few days with the Kanes, during which time several unsuitable homes were turned down, it was decided by Bernie and Trudy to keep "Baker" as a friend to their cat, "Maxie", since the Kanes had recently lost their beloved feline pet, "Henry". Bernie renamed "Baker" - he is now called "Shanny", after a Detroit Red Wings hockey player named Brendan Shanahan. "Shanny" is enjoying life - running through the house - playing with "Ossie" and trying to play with "Maxie". "Maxie" is having a little trouble adjusting to a kitten. "Shanny" has become a normal, happy kitten - no longer frightened of people and is now at a healthy body weight. Both rescues have a happy ending.
