GENERAL
NEWS
Spay
Day - Spay Day USA 2002 was very successful
- through the cooperation of Bay Animal Hospital and KBAF,
15 animals were spayed and neutered - 15 animals that
were removed from the breeding cycle and will not be reproducing.
Bay Animal Hospital donated the vaccinations and KBAF
paid for the other medical care. As far as we know, BAH
is only veterinarian clinic in our area that participates
in Spay Day. We should receive the nation-wide total from
Doris Day Animal League soon.
A Tribute to Bernie
- I know that many of you have lost loved ones - both
human, canine and feline and I wanted to tell you a little
about my husband, Bernie, who died on March 2 from cancer.
Bernie was very supportive of KBAF. He made many thousands
of dozens of dog biscuits; every year he helped me get
our barn ready for our large plant and rummage sale; he
repaired broken items so we could sell them; and he made
many little wooden plant crates for us to sell. Bernie
was a superb cook and made beautiful and tasty dishes
of food for our volunteers at our fundraising events.
Every Christmas holiday he made "Nuts and Bolts" for our
rescue vet, Bay Animal Hospital. Bernie believed strongly
in our work and efforts to help the homeless animals and
asked that it be placed in his obituary that if anyone
wanted to send a memorial for him, that it should go to
KBAF so our work could continue. Many people sent donations,
and Bernie's family and all at KBAF are very grateful
for their generosity. The animals also lost a good friend
and Bernie's kindness and compassion will be missed by
many.
A New Form: Also enclosed
is a copy of a new form which we will have available at
our fundraisers in the future. Many people have asked
how they can make a donation in honor or memory of a person
or pet and the new form has all the information.
Website: Sherri designed
a Website page for KBAF. If you would like to see our
rescue letter, memorial section, rescue stories and other
animal information, go to: www.dogsaver.org/kbaf/mission/mission.htm
If you would like a photo of a special pet placed on the
memorial site, please send a photo and a short story about
your pet, and Sherri will put the picture and story in
the Memorial Section. Or if you have an animal rescue
story you would like placed in the Rescue Section, please
send picture and short story to our address. Thanks, Sherri.
WISH
LIST
- We are still looking for (1) Red
Wing Hockey fabric or a source where we can
purchase it. We would use this fabric for doggie bandannas
and little Doggie Dollys; (2) Jewelry
- old, new, used, broken, etc. for stick pins
and other crafts; (3) Figurines
and knickknacks; (4) Even though we received
several bags of stuffing, we can still use more as the
stuffing is used for dog bone toys (both sizes) and doggie
dollies.
Thanks
to those of you who made donations in memory or honor
of a loved one or a pet and to those of you who donated
just because you wanted to help homeless animals and give
them a second chance at life. Because of your support,
there are many animals living a happy, healthy life, filled
with love and kindness. Thanks again for all you do.
