FUNDRAISERS:
Marcia had a rummage sale at her house on 2 Mile
Road at the end of April where she sold plants and
rummage and donated the proceeds to KBAF. Later we
had two large plant/rummage/gift items sales - the
first one was May 12 in Essexville at Mary's house
on Finn Road. The second one was on May 26 at Trudy's
house on May 26. There were lots of customers at both
sales. We hope to do even better next year, as we
want to provide some new and special plants such as
dwarf varieties, which are excellent for smaller areas,
and also some plants that are especially attractive
to butterflies. We appreciated the many donations
of plants from Marcia, Kay, Diane, Mary, Dawn, Doug
& Andrea, Mark, Trudy, and others. (I hope I did not
overlook anyone.) Thank you so much for these donations.
Debby also sold items for KBAF at her block rummage
sale in July

Our friend, Judy in
Kalamazoo, purchased the photo for Lawrence in
Mattawan, MI. Lawrence has been a hockey player
since age of 5 or 6 - is now 13 yrs. and is goalie
#29. This gift from Judy was especially meaningful
since it is the first signed item Lawrence has
in his hockey collection. |
Lawrence and his mom, Renata are also owners of 3
rescued greyhounds, one who is named "Stanley", after
the Stanley Cup. Judy is also very active with greyhound
rescue and adoption in Kalamazoo. We appreciate the
support from the Detroit Red Wings and everyone else
involved with this fundraiser.
.
Our stickpins, lapel pins, hatpins and flag pins
are now in Booth #236
at the Bay City Antique Center.
Bobbi has offered to display them, along with her
own beautiful antique items. Her booth is on the second
floor.

We received word the Holiday Bazaar originally scheduled
for the end of November at the Visitation Church/Academy
has been cancelled due to the closing of the Academy.
Our first bazaar of the fall season will be on October
6, 2001, at Christa
McCauliffe Middle School, Kiesel Road, next
to John Glenn High School. There will be a complete list
of our bazaar schedule in the next rescue letter.
Dr. Gretchen J. Rochow
is the new doctor at Bay Animal Hospital. We know Dr.
Gretchen will give the two-legged and four-legged clients
the same compassionate kind care extended by the other
vets at BAH.
Wish
List
We are still looking for (1) Red
Wing Hockey fabric or a source where we can
purchase it; (2) Jewelry -
old, new, used, broken, etc.; (3) Figurines
and knickknacks; (4)
Even though we received several bags
of stuffing, we can still use more as the stuffing
is used for dog bone toys (both sizes) and doggie dollies.
We are also looking for dog beads
- either the whole body of the dog or just the head. The
hole must be in the up and down position. These would
have to be small beads, which we can use to make stick
pins. We have been able to find cat beads and use them
to make stickpins, which are a very popular item at our
bazaars. However, many people have asked for dog stickpins
to go with the cat stickpins. So far we have been unable
to find dog beads to use for the stickpins.
MEMORIALS
Donations have been made and received in memory and honor
