We often have dogs that have
expensive medical conditions or circumstances that require them to
receive extra care and attention.
We try our hardest to provide
our dogs with whatever it is they need, although sometimes it can become
very costly.
For example, the cost of
treating a heartworm positive dog can range anywhere from $150 - $300
per dog.
The following are dogs that
need sponsorship and/or they are "special needs" dogs:
Gabby
arrived at K9 Stray Rescue with a broken front leg. She has been
under veternairy care with us for the last 2 months. Our vet is
doing everything he can to save Gabby's leg. She is 4 - 6 years
old. She is currently staying in a foster home with other dogs and
cats, and she has completely settled in and adjusted to this new
environment. She is a great dog with wonderful house manners and
we just don't understand how she ended up homeless and in this
situation. She is affectionate and connecting with everyone she
meets. If you would like to donate for Gabby's medical needs
please send donation to the address on the bottom of the page.
Little Gabby is very thankful for all the people who care about
her and are trying to make her life better.
ADOPTED!!
Lucy
arrived at K9 Stray Rescue from
Shiawassee Animal Control just before she was to be
euthanized because no owner claimed her. Lucy was spayed,
heartwom tested and updated on vaccines on Sep. 30th,
2008. Sadly to say when the heartworm test was ran the
results came back positive. Once she recovers from her
surgery she will go through the heartworm treatment and
stay with us at K9 through her recovery period. Heartworm
treatment is very expensive and we currently have 4 dogs
undergoing treatment. We are accepting donations to help
us cover the expenses for our 4 heartworm positive furry
friends.
Bo
came into K9 Stray Rescue with Lucy from Shiawasse Animal
Control. He is a very handsome boy. Bo's story is the same
as Lucy's. When he was neutered, heartworm tested, and
updated on vaccines, his heartworm test came back
positive. Bo also has an injury to one of his eyes that
needs to be dealt with once his recovery from the heartwom
treatment is complete. His veterinary care is going to be
expensive and we are collecting donations to help us
ensure Bo has a good life.
ADOPTED!!
Hillary
is a 5 - 7 year old Cocker Spaniel. She came to K9 Stray
Rescue with a Cockapoo friend. These two were pulled from
Tuscola County Animal Control. Sadly to say, Hillary's
friend came in with so many health problems that the
humane thing to do was let her go. Hillary seemed to be in
better shape, but just like Lucy and Bo she tested
heartworm positive while at the vet to be spayed and
updated on vaccines. Hillary is staying in a foster home
and she has completed phase 1 of her heartworm treatment.
She is a very sweet girl and is expected to make a full
recovery once her treatment is complete.
