Since we currently receive no
funding other
than through donations, naturally we appreciate every dollar! And
every dollar does make a difference. We have some
people who
mail in a five dollar check when they can, some people on a fixed
income who still manage to send us a few dollars every month, and
others who yearly mail a donation in remembrance of a pet who has
passed away. We cannot express how much this means
to us;
donations like that are what keep us going. And sometimes groups,
organizations and people, like those listed below, give us really
special gifts that make a huge impact.
The follow is a partial list of local businesses that have taken part
in recent fundraisers, made large donations, or sponsored a pet. We
thank you from the bottom of our hearts! Having such wonderful
community support means the world to us, and we're so glad to have
had the help of all of these wonderful organizations!

Don
the Glove,
an online medical glove
company, recently made a donation of vinyl gloves that we'll use
every day. Thanks, Don the Glove!
We probably owe our biggest debt of gratitude to Alcoa. In 1977, Alcoa made a donation of the building we currently have our office housed in (as well as our cats and small dogs and puppies), as well as 2 1/2 acres of land. Ron Kuerner, who headed Arkansas' Alcoa operations at the time, was monumental in awarding the Humane Society this great gift. He and Alcoa helped us get our start. Alcoa may officially stand for Aluminum Company of America, but we like to think it stands for Advocates of Love and Care for Animals! Without their help, we would not have been able to save the thousands of animals over the decades that we have. And, Alcoa continues to support the shelter through employee donations. We thank each and every person at Alcoa for their gift of love and support.
Feeding a couple of hundred
animals is no easy
task, but Wal-Mart
stores in Benton and Bryant have greatly eased that burden by
donating broken bags of dog and cat food. In fact, thanks to them,
food is usually not a worry for us, as they donate enough that we
typically don't have to buy any food. This is truly a wonderful gift
for which we are deeply grateful.
Flemco
Electric donates
their expertise and
supplies to keep our buildings in working order. Flemco rewired our
office and kennel buildings and installed new lighting fixtures.
Also, they happily come out and help us with any electrical problems
we experience.
We owe the Benton Courier so much; they have given the Humane Society of Saline County continuous coverage and support since our beginning. They provide coverage of our events, display pictures of animals we have for adoption and provide ads for needed items, all at their own expense. The Courier and Lynda Hollenbeck have been an invaluable help to us.
The Republican Party of Saline County graciously allows us to use their Republican Building for our fundraising sales. They heat or cool the building during our events, at no cost to us. With providing us a centrally located place to have our sales, the events have been very successful in raising money to help the animals.
Century 21 Daniel & Associates Realty, Inc. generously helped us out by making a donation with each completed real estate transaction.
And to those of you who sent in five dollars, or five hundred, or even more, we owe you our biggest thanks, for if it wasn't for you, we simply would not be able to do what we do. Thank you for your support of the shelter.
