Pat & Savannah with Therapy Dog Diploma

BAROOOO!  That means “Hello, thank you for stopping by to look at my bio!”

My name is Savannah, I am an African Basenji, and I don't bark.  I could make noise if I wanted to, but barking I just don't do!  I was born in Ohio and when it was time to meet my Mommy, I traveled a long time from Ohio to Georgia in a crate (I still don't like crates).  When I got to Georgia I instantly fell in love with my new Mommy and I wanted to make her a happy Mom, so I made sure I did everything she asked me to and tried really hard to be a good girl.  But that is really, really hard to do for a Basenji gal like myself.

My Mommy's name is, Pat Wahl.  She told me she has always wanted to be involved with pet therapy work since she first heard about it, and thought "what a wonderful thing to do".  She said that all of us would become therapy dogs one day, I have two other dogs here at home also.  Their names are Sting and Titus and they are going to pet therapy school when I am finished.

Let me tell you about my life though and when they finish school they will be able to tell you all about themselves later.

Mom thought I was so pretty and so perfect for my breed she took me to what she called school.  First we went to obedience school.  Then to handling classes.  Yuck!  But it made Mommy happy so she then took me to something called dog shows.  I liked the shows cause I got to meet other Basenji's and lots and lots of other doggie friends.  I liked walking around in the circle and the judges liked me too and gave me lots of pretty ribbons.  Life was good and Mom was happy.  Then one day after a dog show, I became very sick & almost died.  Mom said it was a gift from God that I didn’t die that night.  The good news was that I didn’t become sick from being at the dog show, that was just a coincidence.

Because I was so sick Mom said, I didn't need to go to the dog shows anymore and that there was something more important and special I could do.  You know to give back a little of the blessings that God gave to us.  Mom was on her computer lots and looked and looked for something she called therapy dogs.  Then one day I heard her talking to Daddy and she said she found IT!  And, IT was in Dallas, Georgia.  I couldn't wait to find out what IT was.

Well to my surprise IT was Dreamworkers.  I have made lots of new friends and have lots of new things to do.  Cat and Rhonda were my teachers and Sasha (a cute doggy) became my new friends.  And I love to visit the people at the Nursing Home.  They give me treats all the time too, it's lots of fun and I really like to visit all these people with my Mommy.

Maybe you'd like to join us sometime?  I would like to invite you to find out more about Dreamworkers and what we do.  Thank you stopping by and taking the time to read about me!
