This is Aero
Sport von Reynolds, SCH B, CGC, and Dreamworkers Social Therapy Dog. He
is
also known as Aero, Arrow, Good Buddy, Budders, Fluffy, or The Big
Black Wolf. He is a long stock coat
German Shepherd Dog. His mom was a drug/patrol dog for the Pennsylvania
Police Department. His dad is
a German import popular for his Schutzhund accomplishments( obedience,
tracking, protection) and for his
outstanding form, function, and temperament. This is where my Bud Boy
gets his loyal, loving personality. He
gets from his mom his dedication and determination. All he wants is
to please and be petted.
If you see Aero sit or lie
down, he does it slowly on purpose. His left hip is titanium and plastic
from a
total hip replacement. The right femoral head has also been removed
and the only thing supporting his right hip
is muscle and ligaments. At least now his pain is from muscle soreness(which
can be relieved), and not from
arthritis due to bone rubbing bone. At each visit for surgery at Auburn
University he was declared as one of
their model patients. Of course I knew what he was mooching for.....food,
praise, and petting, petting, and
more petting. And I thought I had him spoiled!
I had been wanting to get
into therapy work with my dogs but had not found the right people until
I "remet"
Cat. Because of her, my best friend, Teena, and I have been able to
have a dream of helping people come true.
Aero has completed his Canine Good Citizen test and has completed all
the tests to become a Dreamworkers
Social Therapy Dog. We visit Garden Terrace nursing facility with my
best friend Teena and her Shetland Sheepdog,
Lassie. Also joining us is Teena's daughter, Patricia, and her German
Shepherd Dog, Exie. We visit a different wing
each week because it is a rather large facility. Aero loves visiting
and has become even more spoiled. They love him
at Garden Terrace, and he loves them. His motto is "the more petting,
the better."
* Webmaster's note: Sadly, Aero passed away unexpectedly of a hidden medical condition. His passing has left a hole for the residents at Garden Terrace and the members of Dreamworkers who knew him. He was teasingly called "the big bad wolf", but he was nothing but good.
