BORDER COLLIE  RESCUE OF

NORTHERN CALIFORNIA, INC.

We are a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization that is dedicated to the welfare of the Border Collie. We are active in rescue from shelters and we assist owners who wish to place their dogs.  We depend on donations, adoption fees and profit from sale of merchandise to take care of the dogs in foster care.  Medical bills run very high and donations are always welcome.  If you would care to make a donation, or need more information, please email Terri at tld4now@aol.com or click on Donations.

We are in desparate need of foster homes....CAN YOU HELP?

 HENNY NEEDS YOUR HELP!!

Henny was in sad shape after being hit by a car.  He was taken to a local veterinary hospital after concerned citizens saw him get hit and scooped him off the road.  Rescue was contacted when they were not able to locate an owner.  We were asked to rescue this cute little guy or he would have to be euthanized.  Who could refuse that face?  Henny is only 5 months old.   You can see by the photos that his left front leg is super swollen.  When the swelling went down and the doctor was finally able to x-ray him, he found his leg was broken in 3 different places.  The veterinarian recommended having the leg amputated.  With this option, his recovery period would be much shorter and he will be able to adjust to having only 3 legs, very quickly.  We've had several 3 legged dogs in our rescue program and they have all done tremendously well.  One of our 3 legged female rescue dogs is now a therapy dog, traveling to hospitals to meet human amputees, giving them love and hope.

UPDATE:  Henny was transferred to another vet hospital for his surgery.  When the surgeon saw his x-rays and saw how young Henny was, he said he couldn't take the leg - he wanted to try and save it!!  Henny went into surgery and ended up with 4 pins in his leg, but he still has all 4 legs!!!  The Veterinarian was hopeful that the surgery would be a success.  Henny will need to have the pins adjusted periodically as his bones grow, and he will need more surgery when the pins are removed.  It's going to be more expensive than we originally expected but if he can lead a normal life, it's well worth it.  Henny is a very sweet and friendly dog and very handsome!!!

Rescue has been hit hard this month with many health issues including another rescue dog who had to have his leg amputated.  Now Henny needs our help.

If you would like to help Henny by donating toward his surgery, we would greatly appreciate your help.  Please click here:  DONATIONS ARE ALWAYS WELCOME.  Sponsoring Henny to help with his ongoing care would also be a wonderful option.  We could use the help of several sponsors for Henny.  To find out more about sponsoring, please click on  SPONSOR A RESCUE DOG.

If you would be interested in adopting Henny when he has recovered, please email tld4now@aol.com.  His recovery period is expected to end around the end of October when he will be 8 months old.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP!!!

ADOPTION NEWS

Due to the rise in veterinary costs and other fees for our rescue dogs, we are raising our adoption donations beginning May 15, 2008.  We have kept our adoption donations at the same rate for the past three years, but it has become increasingly more difficult to make ends meet.

Thank you for your continued help and support!
