Have you ever wondered about any of the following isues when you have seen an assistance dog or if an assistance dog has ever come into your business?

1. Can I feed or pet the dog?
2. How much training is involved in achieving the high level of behavior in assistance dogs?
3. Is an assistance dog a pet?
4. Is it appropriate for me to ask about a person's disability if they have an assistance dog?
5. What are the laws that apply to my business?
6. What exactly is a service animal?
7. How can I tell if an animal is really a service animal and not just a pet?
8. What must I do when an individual with a service animal comes to my business?
9. I have always had a posted "no pets" policy at my establishment. Do I have to allow service animals?
10. My county health department has told me that only a seeing eye or guide dog has to be admitted. If I follow those regulations, am I violating the ADA?
11. Can I charge a maintenance or cleaning fee for customers who bring service animals into my business?
12. I run a private taxi and I don't want animals in my taxi; they smell, shed hair and sometimes have "accidents." Am I in violation if I refuse to pick up someone with a service animal?
13. Am I responsible for the animal while the person with a disability is in my business?
14. What if a service animal barks or growls at other people, or otherwise acts out of control?
15. Can I exclude an animal that doesn't really seem dangerous but is disruptive to my business?

If you have an interest in service dogs and you live in the Washington State Puget Sound area, the Assistance Dog Club of Puget Sound encourages you to contact our Speaker's Bureau. We will be happy to come to your business, classroom, organization or other entity and provide your group with an enjoyable and informative discussion about assistance dogs and their abilities. We will respond to legal, training, and ownership questions, all designed to inform and educate.

We have spoken and open to conversations with a variety of professional organizations such as Fire and EMS, hospitals, charitable organizations, schools and fraternal organizations. We are always especially interested in talking with a variety of age groups so we welcome conversations with young people.
